BBC News: Taxpayer lost £2bn on Rock rescue
Friday 18th May 2012

Welcome to our website!

Aveley Methodist Church is situated on a former Greater London Council housing estate. The church was founded in 1952 when the estate was still being built. The original building on the site was a workmen’s hut used by the builders as their canteen. It doubled on a Sunday as our church. Our current building was built in the early sixties and was designed to be used as a utility building. This means that it is a church on Sundays and it is used as a hall for the rest of the week for community use.

We are now a small congregation but with big hearts and vision being Spirit led to serve the community in which we are situated. Our service on Sundays is at 11am for approximately one hour followed by tea, coffee and a chat for those who wish to stay awhile. Our Sunday school meets in the afternoon at 3pm for an hour and we have a youth club meeting at 5pm for two hours.

Weekly Activities include:

Monday Guides 7pm - 8:30pm
Tuesday Bible Study 4pm
Wednesday The Doorstep Club
(for the over 60’s) 1pm – 4pm
Weight Watchers 7pm – 9.15pm
Thursday Mother & Toddlers 9.30am – 11.30am
Splitz Dancing School 5pm – 9pm
Friday Splitz Dancing School 5pm – 9pm
Saturday Occasional events

The church/hall is in constant use practically every day of the week and now, in its fifty years of existence it has become very tired and need of attention and repair. This is one of the driving forces behind our vision. We are situated on a large plot of land and we wish to make use of the area by building a community-based centre attached to the existing building, and hence converting our worship area into a more permanent structure. Please feel free to look through these pages and see for yourself our vision for the future.

Thank you for visiting us.
